Argo is not a particularly great film but tells an interesting story in a somewhat ironic fashion. Ironic because the central tenet of the tale is an imaginary movie and how Hollywood could create a lie to mask the rescue told in a way that is in itself as big a fantasy as the movie for that very rescue.

Watch Argo 2012 Online For Free Stream I am a big fan of Ben Affleck and enjoy his films and think he is a capable director. But sadly Argo is pretty dull and even the fake scenes made up to ratchet up any tension fall flat.

But sadly the script does not give them a lot to work with. The fake scenes in the Canadian Ambassadors house are hardly riveting. Although we do get a bit of Led Zeppelin IV which showed they had some musical taste.

Afflecks character is pretty two dimensional with a bit of a sad family background thrown in to make us sympathetic. Sadly it does not work. The CIA look a bit more organised than Zero Dark Thirty but we do get the odd banging and shouting scenes at the climactic fake finale scene as they rush desperately to make the flight out of Iran.

Watch Argo 2012 Online For Free Stream That whole segment of the film was quite the worst part of the whole exercise and the shots of the Revolutionary Guard chasing the plane was frankly silly more than tense. Of course in reality they just turned up early in the morning and were waved with no fuss onto their escape flight and the movie cover was barely an aspect of the getaway.

Watch Argo 2012 Online For Free Stream Another aspect of the movie was how it makes a point that the British and New Zealand embassies turned away folks from the American embassy which was NOT remotely the case and both embassies played a part in keeping them safe. I understand that for the narrative and pace of the movie these facts were not addressed. But I don't understand why Affleck felt the need to lie about what these people did by saying they did NOT help. Why not just say nothing at all. I guess it is a sop to the uninformed American audience who like to think that their allies are so unreliable and it makes the American part in the rescue more important.

Watch Hitchcock (2012) Online For Free The story of the making of 1960's Psycho has had many, many stories over history and when going to see this film I was expecting to see the making of the film fully take over the story but that was a mistake in thinking. Alfred Hitchcock (Anthony Hopkins) the famous Hollywood director looks for his next project after North by Northwest and when he decides to adapt the novel Psycho he does not take any other considerations. Of course his wife Alma Reville (Helen Mirren) is his right hand person and after some convincing decides to help him making his new film. While making the film we see all the problems during the production which included financing, marriage issues and also relationships between cast members of the film.

Watch Hitchcock (2012) Online For Free does not focus much on the production of Psycho which especially present when the film tackles the famous shower scene which took seven days to film and that scene in the film felt like an afterthought for how short it was. The film presents Hitchcock as a very flamboyant man as he strolls across rooms but also how he talks to everyone around him. The relationship between Alma and Alfred is great but some other plots that come from their conflict just did not work well for me. I was not convinced in how this hard production affected Hitchcock because the only thing that seemed to affect him was the many hallucinations he had of the famous murdered Psycho was based on, this was very boring to watch in the film for me. Makeup is important to making Hopkins look like Hitchcock and it is awful making him look like a fish at times and was the most horrible thing of the film.

Anthony Hopkins plays the legendary director Alfred Hitchock and his performance overall was bad for me. He is the centre point of the film so the film fails mainly due to the performance Hopkins gave. From his choice of voice but also posture it is not what I imagined Hitchcok being and along with many other actors in the film he just does not work. Helen Mirren plays Hitchcock's wife Alma Reville and she is best in the film. Mirren provides her usual fire to the character and as a strong women who does not feel defeated Mirren gets to say what she wants and when her character finally tells Hitchcock how it is Mirren performance in that scene comes to a high. Scarlett Johansson plays Janet Leigh and she along with every other supporting character is wasted. She has the most screen time of the supporting players but still she is not given much to do but be pretty for Hitchcock to watch and put through a scare.

This film along with HBO's "The Girl" are really bad attempts at making a film about Hitchcock because they try to make him the villain to the level where we cannot like him for the decisions he makes. Toby Jones was a better Hitchcock but Hitchcock was a better film due mainly to the performance given by the great Helen Mirren.
